Business Website Development

Business website development for small businesses and service companies — fast, professional sites that are easy to update and built to bring in enquiries.

Your website is often the first thing a customer sees before they call you. It needs to do three things well: load fast, explain clearly what you do, and make it easy to get in touch. I build business websites that do all three — and that you can actually update yourself without calling a developer for every small change.

Most of these builds are on WordPress, and that's a deliberate choice: it's the platform your next developer will know, it has a tool for nearly everything, and you keep full ownership of your site and content. No proprietary builder that holds your website hostage.

Beyond the build itself, every site ships with the unglamorous essentials handled: hosting and domain setup, business email, contact forms that actually deliver, security updates, and the local SEO basics that help nearby customers find you on Google.

If your current site is slow, hard to edit, or just embarrassing next to your competitors — that's the rebuild scenario, and it's a straightforward process: we keep what works (your content, your rankings, your domain), and replace everything that doesn't.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a business website cost?

Most small-business sites land in the low four figures, depending on the number of pages and features like booking, payments, or member areas. You get a fixed quote before any work starts — no hourly surprises, no vague 'it depends' halfway through the project.

Will I be able to update the site myself?

Yes. You get a content management setup chosen for how you actually work — typically WordPress, which most business owners find straightforward for editing text, swapping images, and adding posts or products. I include a walkthrough when the site launches, and if you'd rather not touch it at all, a maintenance plan covers the updates for you.

How long does it take?

A typical business website takes 2–4 weeks from kickoff to launch: design, build, content, and testing. If you have your content ready, it's at the faster end of that range. Larger sites — many service pages, booking systems, or e-commerce — take longer, and you'll know the timeline up front.

Will my site show up on Google?

Every build includes the technical foundations Google expects: fast load times, mobile-friendly layouts, proper page titles and descriptions, and structured data. For local businesses I also set up the local SEO basics — correct business information, location pages, and search console setup. Rankings then build over time with good content; no honest developer can promise page one overnight.

What happens after the site launches?

You own everything — domain, hosting, content, and code. I offer ongoing maintenance plans covering updates, backups, and small changes, but there's no lock-in: if you'd rather manage it yourself or move to someone else later, everything is set up so you can.
